somehow, i remember a lot of things...
it's surprising how many non-UK CP candidates there have been recently (every UKRP one since Rayf!)

With Shadow and FD in the mix, we've only had 3 "UK" CPs.

And as for candidates... PCP had a number of non-"UK"ers in recent months, too.  Tim, Bremer, Relic...

It would be nice if my access to the off-topic forums was removed.
Then I won't see all the spam threads on my view new posts.

A forum with post count is not a forum!

It just doesnt work :/

And, the answer to what is considered spam on these forums, is what an admin considers spam.

They only encourage spam, pointless "count to 100" threads and ill-thought-out replies. I take the point that they are also a measure of "useful" activity but they incite the worst sort of yahoo to try and get to a certain number of posts first by posting garbage. Some of the best forums of which I'm a member do not have post counts for this very reason.

So I have a suggestion. On Monday night at midnight the boards will have been here for almost exactly five days. Might I suggest that anyone with a post count exceeding a sensible amount of posts to have made in that time - say 300 or have Nel pick a figure - have their post count permanently disabled. Given that everybody started at zero this should be a fair way to identify, and stop, pointless spam.

I come on here to be part of, and contribute to, the community. Meddling with postcounts won't affect me one iota.

But would you rather be given praise for your posts or told when you have gone to far?

I think we need a new system, whereby individual posts can be given a thumbs up/down and instead of post count, you start at x where x is the number of thumbs up votes - the number of thumbs down votes.

That way, the incentive is to make useful posts. Not to make as many posts as possible.

the danger being that people might get offended, and that thumbs might be given for things over than usefulness

Yeah the thumbs up and down as well as potential disemvoweling are both not terribly useful in these forums. Besides I honestly think that the spammers here are not even a 100th as bad as elsewhere. Part of it is that I think we're sitting in a little slice of paradise here and the worst we can think of besetting us is Taytaz and Bob, but let me tell you all...there is so much worse than them.

Seriosuly though Taytaz how can you be active in the UK, US and Aus time zones? That does not even remotely compute to me? I mean I'm US west coast so I'm there for early morning UK and late night.
