The Great Football Thread of 2012-13
« on: July 04, 2012, 09:19:55 pm »
I figured I'd get this started now that EURO is over. If you say it's too early, you're silly. Pre-seasons about to start soon enough. NEVER TOO EARLY. Obviously the rumours thread will be for transfer muppetry. Let's keep it as close to hard facts here.
----
Two decent stories today. World Rankings out. England take 4th. Italy jumped six spots to 6th. Germany swapped into second pushing Uruguay into third. Brazil down to 11th (making their automatic spot in the Confederations cup as next WC Host a complete joke... Concacaf should still have to have a playoff for that spot. Could be some great games.).

Also, Goalline Technology to be introduced in the 2013 campaign. Looking like Hawkeye for the Premier League and Goalref for less wealthy leagues. Obviously the 12 high speed, synchronised cameras in Hawkeye make it very expensive, but, afaik, it is the more accurate system due to a visual confirmation. Goalref uses a special ball that disrupts a magnetic field. Obviously much cheaper.

City for the treble. Yes, I'm going to put a tenner on that.

Putting a tenner on Man city to win nothing. Nothing personal just a gut feeling.

Rodgers will lead the mighty Liverpool to a domestic treble with a style to rival Barca, Carrol will be top scorer with a 30+ haul, while Henderson starts to look like a 20million pound bargain.

Walcott?

Funnily enough, his name came up too somewhere. ^_^

He's a player I would most certainly like at Spurs.

I thought he didn't have a footballers brain/injury prone.

I.e. He can never see an easy pass.

Don't really rate him, personally.

I think he would get better if he was a first team regular for whatever club.

Walcott is played in the wrong position. He's naturally a striker. Maybe if RvP goes, Walcott might get his chance.

Doubt he will get his chance now considering that Podolski and Giroud are set to arrive.
