Folding at Home?
« on: April 04, 2015, 09:09:11 pm »
Any of you ever been involved?

https://folding.stanford.edu/

It's something I've been doing for a few years now and only one of my pc's runs it constantly but I find it's for a noble cause and of course point scoring to induce friendly competition is always a good thing....

Never been a big scorer but the newer GFX cards nowadays certainly give great scores when they complete and I've gained a million points in just a few months

If we got a few of us involved perhaps we could setup our own team for a but of friendly point scoring?  ;)

I used to do this when I bought my PS3, used to keep it on in the background a lot.

It will do as runs them all at 100% ;) aslong as your not posting 70+ degrees you should be fine :p

Ok so today I setup an eUK team for anyone interested. Our Team ID is 228516

For those interested but dont want the hassle of the Client install, use the Chrome plug in version here:-

http://folding.stanford.edu/nacl/

Just use a username of choice and Team ID of 228516. The passkey is obviously just to stop anyone else using your username etc but if you use the full blown client is HIGHLY beneficial as gets you reward points.

Oh and just FYI my contribution to this team is on my 8 year old work laptop! So yes even OLD equipment can contribute to the cause.

Welp, I finally got around to setting this up (I think). Gonna leave it running during Netflix binges so long as it and my AMD card don't start a housefire.
