I have one question

Quote from: "Frerk"

We will also be adding one new rule to combat the perceived bias: people are not allowed to moderate a discussion they have taken part in. What this basically means is that if a moderator is in a discussion with a player he can’t infract the player, or himself(why would he), but that if a rule has been broken by either of them a moderator who is not involved has to step in. Some might see this as common sense but it has happened in the past on multiple occasions and some people have been banned while they shouldn’t have been. As such we are also removing all bans besides jamesw’s.

What did ChewChewShow that was bad enough for being the only player in the forums not being amnestied?

I have absolutely no idea as I'm only active on the fgt forum, but I met him on diplomatic circles and he doesn't strike me as "worst offender possible"

Because chewy is one of those people that is really good at behaving when appropriate and is really inappropriate when he isn't on his best.

Like that annoying childhood friend that your parents loved, but was secretly one messed up kid and did loads of crazy stuff.

Well, that doesn't really answer my question. I was just surprised at the fact there is a general amnesty for everybody but one guy.

I don't get the fuss over porn, worse has happened on IRC with Racist's and porn floated on there...
and yes it's bad when younger people visit, but worthy of a life time ban? jamesw can less time for murder...

and am I correct in saying jamesw posted porn on the IRC at first and received a perm ban here from dan Moir?

posting a link to porn on IRC is whatever...cause nobody will ever no about it and there isn't a record of it for any real purpose...

posting porn on this forum makes the owner liable for said porn.

which is why most forums don't allow it.

Posting NSFW on #euk=At least a temp ban

Posting porn and the like on here threatens our advertising and thus the continuation of the forums. jamesw was unbanned along with everyone else in the mass unbanning that happened a while ago and didn't even make it 24 hours before posting something that wasn't remotely appropriate. This is a decision which has been backed by the whole forum hierarchy, we want to be less strict (The new rules are a great example, just wait until you see them) but there are limits on what is acceptable.

No, you're totally fucking wrong, as usual.  I never banned anyone from forums for IRC stuff.  Some people were banned from both because they were dicks in both.

And as for the porn not being serious theory, Pfeiffer has explained that pretty well.

I hope you mean a temp ban from #euk IRC???  Because banning on forums due to IRC stuff would be silly.

Lol.  I don't think kumnaa is concerned about the advertising revenue.  It's pennies and doesn't even come close to covering costs.  It's more to do with the legal implications.  Yes the ads would be stopped but that's a much smaller issue.

He posted something against the TOS, not only once, but repetitively as far as I remember.

Would be nice if other unrepentant repeat offenders had permanent bans that stick too, like Goku.

Yeah, bans last hardly any time on #euk, don't think there's many permabanned on IRC that aren't just forig trolls

I used 'advertising' as a nice catch all phrase for all that stuff. I can't think of anybody else who was unbanned who so swiftly broke the ToS. Certain members may have run up infraction points but never anything serious (There was that one time, but it was sorted out to be a genuine mistake)

If someone is being harmful to the environment and atmosphere here, the community usually deals out its own punishment through shunning which is p much as bad as a permaban as it extends beyond the forums. You harm the forums themselves though and you'll be booted off

Not all of the bans will be lifted, but I'll go remove yours now if you're banned, surferdude on IRC right?

Nope. I'm telling you he's the only one who'd do it again within 24 hours.
Think of the mass unbanning as a 2nd chance: everybody can grab it. Goku grabbed his and didn't get banned again, when we unbanned him a while ago. jamesw, though, has gotten banned for making multis with an Irish guy, with names like Anne Frank and Hitler, trying to "replay" WW2. He got banned for posting fascist stuff, ages ago. Oh, and he got banned for porn, only to be unbanned earlier this year by me, promising he'd behave.

Of course he posted gay porn within a few hours, and was promptly banned again.

I have no issue at all with giving people a second chance, but like Pfeiffer already explained you, if he, or any other user, posts porn, gore, or anything else which is in conflict with Google Ads' policy, then kumnaa is liable, and our funding might be cut, Dan says it's not a lot, but it's money nonetheless. This doesn't take into account that some hosting companies prohibit adult material(Although I don't know if kumnaa's host shares this policy).

Edit: also, for the legal implications of posting gore and porn(Or fascist stuff etc etc etc), maybe somebody who is good at that stuff could explain it to us :P

Just look at the Terms of Service for usage of the forum hosting, etc. Much like Youtube, which hosts copyright material, a forum is responsible to moderate itself and the content. As most forum hosting sites are free, they have in their ToS that you cannot do Gore/Porn due to the lack of an age requirement, and the owner/administrators are required to enforce that, otherwise they'd risk getting the forums shut down should it be reported that they weren't doing so.

Granted, that's probably a last ditch, and I don't expect them to be watching me right now as I post that you could still probably get away with a few jpg's without risking it, but if Lionbeard here, at the ripe age of 11 or whatever it was when he joined (HI DAN) had reported to forumotion (our old site, not sure which one we use now) that we had porn posted, it would violate, etc.

In short, it's in the agreement for Terms of Service. :3

The current forum is hosted by Kumnaa on an (I believe) hired VPS somewhere. Which means he pays for it. Either way:

Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us.
Is our ToS. Says enough.

Anyway, jamesw isn't getting unbanned.
