Well if people are that unhappy with the informal tone then Digby has a suitable alternative there. We had ones like that (they may even be exactly the same ones) drawn up in the admin/mod section and none of us had any problem with them, content wise

Dear Mr. G,

I said that changing the rules on the forum to be updated in the little bars etc. is not a high priority right now for reasons that will become obvious soon. I can't tell you and can only hope you'll trust me on that one; the old rules being in red etc. is not important right now.

Sincerely,
Digby

Dear Mr. Kerr,

I believe so, that's how IRC has generally worked for years. Like I said, I was under the impression there's a proper set written somewhere but I don't know where, and the key thing as has been put in the past is to not be dicks to ops and that they have the right to deal with that.

Sincerely,
Digby

Then could I get an apology for being called a retard and an idiot?

Dear Mr. Kerr,

if you'd be willing to apologise for not listening to me and being a nobhead, yeah.

I don't harbour grudges or anything, and I obviously didn't mean either of those, but if you're being told something by an op then you should probably listen and not try to wind them up.

Sincerely,
Digby

The IRC rule is ...

CP gets 9999 op for that month, it is HIS/HER decision to choose op's. That WAS the agreement between me and Kumnaa.

Now Im not sure if Frerk and his crew have gotten higher OP behind closed doors.

Subsequent CPs didn't want to look after IRC so handed it back.

CP still gets high access and can add "anybody they like".

Alice has been banned.  Seems rather than having clear rules and punishments, they just infract or ban when they feel like it now.

Actually, Alice has been banned for using somebody elses personal pictures without consent.

Given the chance to take it down, he instead edited it, and then whined all night how "It was no longer personal any more and I don't deserve a ban."

Its always been forum policy for a ban regarding personal information / pictures when the person whose information or pictures it is didn't give consent.

Intresting mm you could argue that consent isnt needed if that picture is already out there in the public domain,

I don't see anything about that in the new rules.  Perhaps you'd like to point out the area you are referring to?

Otherwise this is simply an admission that the new rules are a load of shit and that you guys are just going to do what the hell you like from now on.

It goes without saying that this is a pretty personal sort of thing to get involved in. Any abuse from this will be dealt with severely, as will pressuring people into it. If you have any concerns, pm a mod or an admin straight away.

Seems like the mod team have interpreted that as including the images in profiles without permission, which is fair enough.

Nice big image of Butjam for you all to look at too.

I was asking for proof of the 'rules'... from someone who was quoting the rules.  Then again proving someone wrong usually leads to insults, tis the eUK way!

Wasn't there a thread that explained bans and infraction points? Would make it all so much easier and less thread jacking if there either was, or it was used and updated when relevant.

Establishing specific rules for threads and areas has always been something, plus there's also a sense of common decency that you hope people would abide by. Also:

"Don’t ruin our advertising: The forums can continue to run because of some nifty little adverts that generate a little bit of money. If you post nudity, pornography, offensive images of copyright violations we risk losing our ads. Breaking the law by publishing peoples personal information is also not allowed. Please note, copyright violations means mainly links to illegal streaming/downloads. Please also take a second to consider turning adblock off whilst on the forums."

I'd say a picture of my self counts as personal information. I may have posted it myself, but it was below a big chunk of red text warning people what would happen.
