Fix avatars
« : June 16, 2013, 10:50:53 PM »
At the top of the forum.  The bottom of my avatar is cut off.  I assume it's the same for everyone else.

Cheers.

Same for me
Everything you say is boring and incomprehensible, but that alone doesn't make it true.

This is an issue with the fixed size of the header. I'll see if I can make it shrink the avatar there.

Not particularly, which is why I didn't mention it earlier.  It's just a minor annoyance and it would be nicer if it was fixed.

With regard to the avatars being cut off, you can edit the 'height' value in the CSS properties for

div id=header
div id=header-r
to value = 250px;

It looks a little weird because the header logos aren't designed for that height but if you give me copies of these files I can edit them to fix that..

/images/id/header-r.png

Strange that I can't pull them off the server, maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for.

Pfft, YOU SILGHTLY WRONG! Lol.

Butface: In the CSS file find #header and remove height:250px; from that section (sections start end with { and } ) - that will fix it easily, will make logo look slightly out but it will work without having to do any image changes... you could increase the top margin/padding on the logo if you wanted ;)

If you are really that paranoid I can walk you through it step-by-step but you're not a baby so go do it.

Needs more Kumnaa or Frerk - or Butjam to l2code

That works too. Only thing is, how many pixels is that extending the header by? If you set it directly, then you know the header PNGs will need to increase by 45px as well.

I don't know CSS/coding, I'm just a fiddler, so ignore me if this isn't an issue.

Each image is resized at upload (just checked) so it wouldn't matter at all. This will force the div to be the biggest height it needs to be (no enforced height) - basically fitting to the bottom of the avatar. In this case the images are 150x150 so it extends the div the extra amount of pixels for that. (Which happens to be 26 pixels :P)

Edit: Just seen what you meant - the PNGs would need to be increased, yes. Sorry, thought you meant the logo for some reason

Edit2: Easily fixed by finding #userarea and changing padding-top:6.2em; to padding-top:5px - this will move the "Hello Darkmantle" and such up nearer the top, but would save lots more time. Hell, these changes can be done in about 1 minute if Butjam wanted to >_> PLUS PX IS MORE ACCURATE THAN EM WHO THE HELL MADE THIS STUPID CSS FFS L2CODE.

Edit3: God I'm stupid... the WHOLE thing can be fixed just by doing that edit2 - as it moves the stuff up still - changing the height becomes pointless as it will fit then anyway. OFF YOU GO BUTJAM.

Saw that too, but I didn't like that it shifted the text up as well.

But that might be good, maybe we can add a couple more links like

"Show Recent Posts"
and
"Show your Posts"

to fill in the void space.

Searched, not found in either the template or the stylesheet. I may not be looking in the right area though

What's better, giving me advice or waiting forever for Frerk and Kumnaa to come and save me? I've already fixed youtube links and added the recent topics function, 2/3 isn't bad
