Attacking Ireland?
« on: January 17, 2010, 08:42:47 pm »
Hey, I heard that some people wanted to attack Ireland. Is this just random people or does the gouvernment actually want to attack them? :?: Also, I believe that Northern Ireland is on their country goals. Are we going to get into a war with them?

Noone of importance wants to attack the Irish. There's just some tensions because the idiotic Irish republicans are always trying to start a war between us and the Irish, but they are in the minority.

Britain's got personal union with Ireland.
on the other hand, one can never underestimate the possibility of an Irish revolution

Possible that Ireland/UK tension is shockingly similar on eR and RL?

Well I never...

Even if we absolutely positively hated Ireland they have no resources of interest, so taking them on would be a waste of time, money and damage.

To reiterate what was said in another thread:
There will be no eIrish 'rebellion' or attack on the eUK in the foreseeable future.
Nor will we be joining a major alliance.

http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mo ... 50386/1/20 (eIreland - eIrish DoD)
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/but ... 48607/1/20 (eIreland - president Edana Savage)
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-pm ... 48590/1/20 (eUK - prime minister Dishmcds)

Both the eIrish president and the eUK prime minister have stated that we are at a mutual understanding and relations between our countries are still good.

To quote your prime minister, "If you catch anyone in Ireland saying they should join EDEN, consider the source."
It should be noted that the same quote can apply to people saying eIreland should join Phoenix.

Should you have more questions on eIreland, please direct them to the eIrish embassy in your forum or contact myself (eIrish ambassador to the eUK), don.squire or LordoIrish (the co-MoFAs) via in game PMs.
Together we aspire! Together we achieve!

Tasty

Invading Ireland would be:

a) hard
b) pointless
c) mean Padraig Pearse would be within our borders.

Yeah, we wouldn't want to give the Republicans an actual excuse to be angry at us. That'd be a recruiting boon for them.

Give it "back"? That would imply that it was eIrish to begin with, which it never was. It has always been original eUK territory.
