Change of Admins and IRC Control
« on: December 29, 2012, 05:39:48 pm »
Hello Everybody!

Forums

After and afternoon of discussions I've decided on a change of adminship as things had gotten messy and confrontational. The government and the forum admins seem to have gotten themselves into a rut and as the forum is supposed to support the eUK (whoever is running it) things needed to change.

Dan and Talon have both been removed as admins, Dan to a normal user and I've asked Talon if he'd like to remain as a global mod but I don't yet know if he has accepted this.

While things are being sorted out through various discussions, Frerk is being moved into the only admin role and I don't know if the GM roles will change.

IRC

IRC is now under the control of the eUK government rather than forum staff. Every month the control of the channel will be changed to the new CP and they can appoint/remove/replace any channel operators they see fit. I will retain ownership and will continue to say something in channel every month or two.

Thanks,

Kumnaa

These changes have been required for some time.

I want to thank Kumnaa for getting back to me and having this very constructive meeting. Yay! for reform and hopefully a better and more friendly Forum/IRC which is used by all.

Alright changes, I suppose. Sad to see Dan go though. I'd hope the CP follows rules on #euk and doesn't abuse their position to give out op and admin power unnecessarily.

That I would hope is a given, I certainly have never wanted to abuse said power. But if any CP does go bad Kumnaa still holds owner so we are covered.

Also no CP should ever been Admin at the same time.

I am a bit concerned about the potential of #euk to end up like #parliament

Regardless, interesting changes that certainly settle a longstanding issue. I wonder if I survive the purge

Rather sad at this actually.

Dan was a bloody good admin, but an interesting change nonetheless.

Self important, much?

Dan is a cool guy, and I think this is a bit harsh tbh.

I do have to agree. Same with Talon, who was a fairly unbiased admin at times compared to those of the past.

Pretty unfair to see both Dan and Talon gone, but I can't say it's unfair that Frerk is an Admin now. He'll do good in the position.

@Sir Nick: What happened to peace and all that?

As long as owner is kept by Kumnaa to prevent a steal, I can't say I mind that #eUK is transferred to CP adminship.

Interesting turn of events.

I hope Kumnaa actually talked with Dan/Talon before firing them as to what they thought etc. about BA's complaints. Otherwise this seems biased and unfair, as well as being grounds for possible unfair dismissal if we were discussing an actual job.

I was just as surprised as other mods to see this happen but if Kumnaa deemed it necessary then I won't argue with it.

Well I hope you keep appointing honest, trustworthy, active people to forum roles.  So long as that continues, no harm done.  I've been stuck with the job for long enough anyway :P

The IRC change is interesting to say the least.  Not sure it's for the better but time will tell.  kumnaa having overall control is very important, as has been said.  The amount of lost parliament and MoHA channels, etc due to people trying to cling on to power over the years is ridiculous.

I wasn't spoken to but knew it was coming.

I'll admit to being a bit hurt with the whole affair, simply because I've always tried to be fair, to do my best for the UK, and quite importantly to listen to all viewpoints.

That said, I do have a lot of respect for both Kumnaa and Frerk, and if they think a total change at the top is needed to progress and heal the divide, who am I to argue?

I really hope now, that we can see a lot more posters on the forums, that the stigma can be taken away, and that we can enjoy this community that really does make the game for me. If we can get all of that, well, my position is a small price to pay. I've never been in it for the positions and power, and look forward to seeing how we proceed from here.

Thanks guys
