New Players
« on: October 28, 2013, 10:27:01 am »
All,

It appears we have a few more interested players wanting to join us.

While not an issue, space is becoming an issue with Provinces so we need to make choices:-

1. We close the server to new players - Not something I'd like to do really

2. We expand the world to include more land - Would involve a small downtime while I copy/paste in the area from the World map

3. We reduce the size of the current provinces - Not something I know most would want.

4. (As suggested by Iain) Form Teams and share provinces - I know some again wont want to share lands

I'd say go with choice 2. I'd love it if we could include all of Asia and/or Africa...

Form teams. Otherwise option 2/3 is best.

You could change borders to basically only cover rough areas you've built in and have a presence at, though this would make things infinitely more complicated :p
<Guitah> not arguing with a Brit about tea is tha sensible thing to do :)
<Appleby> it is common knowledge it is pointless arguing with an addict :p
<Appleby> thus it is pointless arguing about tea with brits

And that helps us with homes for new players how?  :P

But indeed, I'll look into moving the server spawn later anyway as a seperate matter

Why do you need to force people to share land when you have 18 countries or so free left?

I don't know why people are so averse to forming teams. It's clear people will anyway- Appleby-Mitte emerged as an early team, and Tepp-Rodney-Acroc as another. Not sure about Bask and Rory, but Lily and her friend are both playing together. Only difference with sharing land is that a smaller area gets built up more quickly. Not being funny, but we've been playing for 3 weeks now and West Med is the most developed region (cos 3 people on one region) and it's still months away from being remotely complete- and that's before we even think of expanding. I know a lot of people were concerned about mining space, but I guess we've mined out maybe 25% of y=7-9, which means we still have y=2 and y=12 to mine out, meaning we're like 7-8% of the way through our potentially mine-able area. Forming teams makes sense if you can put up with each other :D

Saying that I like the idea of a bigger world, I would like to expand but I'm not the world's biggest fan of fighting over space :P

(ACroc here)

Option 4 is kinda cool, To be honest it's the only real way to give players space without having to relocate to an uninhabited new land... europe being crowded and all.

On a side note, I'm happy to share the Balkans and give someone Croatia... but only as a part of greater serbia ofc :P

Although one downside is that some of us that would've gone as teams now haven't (for instance the people I get on with most are Tepp, Rory and Mitte).

extend the map.

but i'd want my region reset so I could go somewhere else. I'm sandwiched between others so I would have nowhere to expand.
ive done some things

with Alice on this.

Teaming up is more fun!

Viridi we can establish a route from Denmark to Sweden so you have access to more land if you want.
